Center Welcomes New Executive Director
Rick Bousquet takes over the helm of the Assistance Center September 1st
Rick joins us as the former Executive Director/CEO of the Texas
Humane legislation Network. He grew the organization to a state
network of 9 chapters which he helped establish. He created the
business, fund raising and operations model for each chapter to
bring it on line faster. As ED Rick met with state legislators,
testified in hearings, and worked with elected officials to help
pass mainstream animal protection laws concerning issues such as dog
fighting, cockfighting, and animal cruelty.
Rick has also served as ED for the Campfire USA chapter in Amarillo where he managed a staff of more than 60 staff and volunteers, sixteen program locations and an annual budget of more than $1.2 million. He was responsible for new programs which met the standards for United Way funding. Rick's marketing and fund raising campaign helped raise necessary revenue during a trying time for the agency.
As Area Director of the Special Olympics Texas, Rick served as a front line director for 41 counties in the Texas panhandle. Rick's programs included more than 725 athletes, 150 class 'A' volunteers and more than 1,500 'day of event' volunteers. Rick lead more than 25 sporting events a year and launched a successful fund raising program reaching a gross of more than $100,000 in three years.
Rick has also held positions in association management and with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, the Potter County Sheriff's Office.
Rick was selected from a rich field of candidates with strong experience in both programs and agency management and business development. The selection committee was composed of current and past board of director members supported by local HR professionals.
