Center Celebrates Volunteer Week

"We’ve always counted on our volunteers, and we’ve always been proud of the work they do for us and the community," announced Jackie Hall, executive Director of the Assistance Center of Collin County.

The ACCC volunteers were invited out to a celebration of Volunteer Week. The twenty-two volunteers were joined by seven members of the board and the center staff for a gala luncheon. The event was planned by Board Members John and Leigh Althaus who thought of everything including a Thank You plant as a reminder of our thought and of the luncheon. Jackie Hall called on the board to draw names of volunteers from a basket to receive door prizes.

Volunteer Week provided the drive to stop and properly thank the volunteers who take the phone calls, and help find solutions to the many challenges that face the more than 24,000 calls we get each year. With some volunteers having served 10, 15, 20 or more years they have served, one can only guess how many calls they’ve answered or the number of people in crisis they have helped.

We’re always looking for additional volunteers to take on regular 3.5 hour shifts, work substitute shifts or work in other areas of operations. To visit the volunteer sign up page, click here.
